A revised edition, this book plumbs the depths of our sorrows, whether due to illness, divorce, or the loss of someone we love. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life. Includes a new preface and epilogue.Publishers Description
An expanded edition of this classic book on grief and loss---with a new preface and epilogueLoss came suddenly for Jerry Sittser. In an instant, a tragic car accident claimed three generations of his family: his mother, his wife, and his young daughter. While most of us will not experience such a catastrophic loss in our lifetime, all of us will taste it. And we can, if we choose, know as well the grace that transforms it. A Grace Disguised plumbs the depths of sorrow, whether due to illness, divorce, or the loss of someone we love. The circumstances are not important; what we do with those circumstances is. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life---one marked by spiritual depth, joy, compassion, and a deeper appreciation of simple blessings.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
One of the best books on Grief Mar 8, 2007
The author lost his mother, wife, and daughter in one car accident (he and his other children survived the accident). The book shares how he dealt with it from a Christian but very real perspective. No platitudes or "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" nonsense. It was very helpful to me after my wife died.
Very, very well written and touching Mar 5, 2007
Incredibly well written from a man who has been
through it. His ability to express the emotions
he was going through that no one else can imagine can
really touch and help someone who is going through
a terrible loss. One of the most helpful books for someone
dealing with the loss of a loved one.
Healing after loss Jan 17, 2007
The most helpful book I have ever read to help a thinking person with devastating loss--be it death, divorce or any life-altering change. The author does not condescend to his readers, nor does he offer simplistic explanations for the human condition. His reflections help those who grieve frame experiences in a way that helps them to heal and to find joy again.
A book to be read over and over Jan 17, 2007
I discovered this book 10 years ago after the death of my older sister. I thought I stumbled across this book by accident at a bookstore, but I know now that it was no accident. I am reading this book for the third time and it will never be put away on a shelf. It has new meaning and insight each time I read it over again. This little book is a gift from God.
Recommend for any loss Jan 15, 2007
Thoughtfully well written - suitable to help one through loss such as divorce, medical negligence, death, and the like. This book is a required read for a graduate level counseling course titled Grief, Trauma and Loss.
