Many parents and teachers struggle with how to approach the Saint Nicholas/Santa Claus dilemma. Many deal with this by telling children that the legends surrounding Santa Claus are based on a real, historical figure named Nicholas, a Christian bishop known for his generosity. This picture book presents a shortened, somewhat fictionalized version of the life of Saint Nicholas, explaining that Nicholas was a servant of God and that, through him, God's love was reflected to others. The story touches on the ministry of Nicholas and his generous gift of a dowry to three young girls as a response to God's love in Jesus. And it brings application to our own lives as we, too, respond with grateful hearts to God's great gift of love to us. Combining museum-quality artwork and family friendly language, this book clearly articulates how God showered His love upon us through Christ and helps children see that our own gift-giving is a grateful response to the sacrificial gift of God's Son.Publishers Description

Wonderful Christmas Book Jan 3, 2010
I used this book in my Charlotte Mason homeschool curriculum and loved it. The illustrations are wonderful and the story gives a seemingly good historical account of the real St. Nicholas.
St Nicholas is consise and inspirational! Dec 13, 2009
As a clergy person, I wasn't sure how to pursue a story telling circle at our Children's Christmas party at the church, but this book was a near perfect fit. The story is concise and easy for school-age listeners. I was delighted that the author included a inspiration connection to Christmas as a time of giving and God as the first giver. The illustrations are colorful and convey the story well to the children. My only reservation was the size of the book; a bit on the small side. A extra large edition would be great!
Nice book Dec 9, 2009
Not too long story which made it perfect for our 2 year old who does not like to stay still. We got the board book. The story is not very detailed but simple enough for younger children.
Well Done Jan 14, 2009
I shared this book with my family at Christmas this last year. It's for Children, but tells the Saint Nicholas story simply but well.
