Believing that she is losing her sanity when she experiences frightening and violent visions in her family's new home in North Carolina, Stephanie, the wife of a burned-out missionary, hopes for her brother's help only to discover that he is hiding a disturbing secret.Publishers Description
With masterful storytelling, Travis Thrasher draws readers into a novel so gripping it cannot be put down.
James Miller is a burned-out missionary whose time on the mission field in Papua New Guinea
left him exhausted and disillusioned. His wife, Stephanie, feels like she's losing her mind. After moving to North Carolina
, Stephanie begins seeing strange and frightening things: blood dripping down the walls, one of her children suffocating. Premonitions, she's sure, of what's to come. As the visions and haunting images intensify, Stephanie asks her brother to come for a much-needed visit--but he's hiding secrets of his own that will prove more destructive than Stephanie can imagine.
Nine-year-old Zachary sees his family's move as an adventure, and as he explores the new house, he discovers every young boy's dream: secret passageways and hidden rooms. But what seems exciting at first quickly becomes altogether frightening. When a snowstorm traps the Millers, the supernatural dangers of their new home will test everything they thought they knew about each other, and about their faith.

Took a while to grab me, but the last half was worth the read Dec 18, 2009
After reading Thrasher's Sky Blue and meeting him at my book club I bought all of his other works. Isolation was my next read and at first I found myself being a bit disappointed. It moved slowly for me at first but it caught enough of my attentnion that I kept coming back to it. I got about halfway through and suddenly could not put it down. The mystery of the huge creepy lodge and a character that kept appearing but we didn't know how he fit got me and I just had to find out what happened. The theme of good versus evil and spiritual warfare got me thinking, and whether or not you believe in those things, the book is a good read. If you are a person of faith, as I am, it brings a whole new dimension to the story. I recommend this book. And while I have a whole shelf of his other works to read, I am ordering his latest- Every Breath You Take because I just have to have it. It can be purchased directly from his website [...]
Lights On For This One!! Nov 21, 2009
Anyone who loves suspense and/or haunted houses is sure to love this one. It reads like a great mystery, as you find yourself second-guessing everyone you encounter. Does someone have a deep, dark secret? I slept with the lights on for a week after I read this one. Keep them coming, Travis Thrasher!
The Best in Christian Horror Nov 16, 2009
Life was supposed to be normal when James Miller got back from his missionary stint in Papua New Guinea. Spiritual oppression over there was heavy and he had been worn thin fighting it. Here they had electricity, air conditioning, and no demonic oppression right? Life would be good.
But his wife Stephanie is not experiencing life as normal. She thinks she's losing her mind. She dreams of blood running down the walls of their room, she awakes from sleepwalking standing over her sleeping son with a knife in her hand, she has a vision of one of her children suffocating. Are these premonitions of what's to come? And does it have anything to do with her repressed childhood?
To get away from all the stress, they move to a missionary's retreat in the mountains of North Carolina. It's a veritable mansion with a dark and secret past. The Miller's son Zachary finds all sorts of secret passageways and hidden rooms, but not everything he finds is exciting. When a snowstorm traps he Millers, they find themselves trapped with a killer intent on destroying the Miller's already fragile faith. They find themselves face to face with a demon in a house or horrors. The only question is, can the Miller's stay alive, both physically and spiritually?
Travis Thrasher gives us something unique in Isolation. It's the pinnacle of Christian horror, able to tell a story of demonic possession and oppression while able to keep the story within the bounds of reality. It reminds me of the novels (and movies) House by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti and The Shining by Stephen King. In my opinion, Thrasher bests both of these stories. I read this book between 2-6 in the morning one dark and spooky night. It's genuinely scary with a genuinely redemptive message. A great read.

If you've ever felt isolated from others, from God, from yourself, this book is a perfectly woven tale of those feelings from a truly well written "horror" fashion. I love that a Christian author has hit this style on the mark!
MY FIRST READ FROM THIS GENRE BY TRAVIS Aug 5, 2009
I have been a fan of Travis Thrasher, but had not yet read anything other then his love stories (which by the way are amazing!). Of course I knew that I'd be in for a treat having loved his writing and story telling.
Right from the first page I was instantly drawn into the story. There was so much mystery that all's I wanted to do was keep reading to find out where it was all leading. As the story unfolded, my mind raced to different theories.
The last part of the book shocked me as several things were slowly revealed. I can't believe I actually liked one of the characters, feeling drawn to him and wondering about his story...well, I got HIS story! And much more!
Here I was reading this book about supernatural things and that very morning, I kid you not, I'd just read about Shadrach, Meshack, and Abendnego. I must confess that I grew up with the song about them in Sunday school, but when I started reading about them in my Bible this morning I was initially confused. The section I was reading was titles, The Four Men in the Fiery Furnace. I said to myself...what four men...there were only three in the song, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abendnego. Of course as I continued to read, I learned it was Jesus they were referring to as the fourth man.
A shiver shot through me as I read the final pages of, Isolation. I'm not entirely sure if it was because of the words Travis used to describe God being with Zach, or the fact that I'd just read about that very thing that morning. If I had to guess, I'd say it was the combination of the two. The wonderful message Travis so magnificently depicted, and having just read it that morning.
Now that story from the Bible will be forever cemented in me because of reading it in both fiction and non-fiction within hours of one another. Wow, it still gives me the chills.
